Today, after resigning from a Yahoo group whose moderator was very inflammatory (!), I decided to see what might be out there in terms of alchemical groups...

There are quite a few general magical groups, many of them Golden-Dawnish, which have some association to the subject, but there are also quite a few dealing exclusively with the subject.

I decided to become a member of three of them:

• KeysOfAlchemy;
• The Alchemy Guild; and
• Alchemystica.

The first was very strange. I thought that somehow Yahoo had goofed--because all the recent posts were about political situations: carnage in Peru, discussions about George W. Bush, Gay Republicans being outed, etc.

Then I decided to do a search on "alchemy", and found I must be in the right place: there were posts, about two years ago, about current issues of the Alchemy Journal, by Dennis Hauck... but it seems the site has undergone a strange (alchemical?) transformation, though perhaps not for the best... so I quit that group.

The Alchemy Guild seems somewhat interesting; though it seems some of the people posting there are just trying to sound "alchemical" by speaking gibberish...

And the last one seems to deal with genuine attempts at laboratory alchemy.

Let's see where this goes...
