The Esoteric Arts: A Primer has been written to serve two primary purposes, namely

  • as a resource for participants in the Ordo Magni Operis (OMO) introductory public lecture series, and
  • as a study guide for those enrolled in the Order’s Probationer programme.

At the same time, we recognise that the material offered herein is likely to be of interest and value to members of the broader esoteric community, and are therefore pleased to make it publicly available.
The following subjects are treated here:

  • The Ordo Magni Operis: its nature and mission
  • Truth: what it is/isn’t and how it relates to magical practice
  • Carl Gustav Jung: a foundational introduction to his system
  • Classical Hebrew: how to read and write it properly
  • Qabbalah: an overview of basic principles, with an addendum on Qelippoth
  • The Golden Dawn’s Qabbalistic Cross: its origins and some correctives
  • Astrology: some basic symbols and concepts
  • Ritual: how to be effective
  • Meditation and Visualisation: a first beginning
  • Rītus Portæ: an OMO ritual of empowerment
  • Alchemy: an introduction to basic concepts

We hope you will find the articles stimulating and valuable!

The Ordo Magni Operis is an esoteric order founded on alchemical principles and dedicated to the individual and collective accomplishment of the Magnum Opus, or Great Work.

The OMO is a free association open to men and women from all walks of life who wish to work together with us for mutual spiritual improvement following a path inspired primarily by the writings of the ancient alchemists (mediæval and otherwise), but supplemented by other hermetic materials covering the whole of the esoteric spectrum.

The OMO studies alchemy (theoretical, practical, and spiritual), psychology, magic (ceremonial, elemental, astral), astrology, and systems of divination (e.g. geomancy, tarot, I Ching), to name only a few of the areas that fall within its purview.
